Is Teplye Klyuchi in Ala-Archa?

No, it is in the neighbouring Alamedin gorge, on the other side of the ridge. It has a road of its own: put “Teplye Klyuchi” into your navigator, not “Ala-Archa”.

How do I get there from Ala-Archa?

By road from the Ala-Archa gate it is about 35 km and 45 minutes without traffic: down to Kashka-Suu, east through Arashan and Koy-Tash, then up the Alamedin gorge. No road crosses the ridge, though it is only 15 km as the crow flies.

Can I do Ala-Archa and Teplye Klyuchi in one day?

Yes, if you have a car: a walk in Ala-Archa in the morning and the pool in the afternoon, for example. The drive between the gorges takes about 45 minutes.

Do I need an Ala-Archa park ticket?

No: the road to the Alamedin gorge does not pass the Ala-Archa park checkpoint. At the complex you pay only for the pool, treatments and rooms.

Who should not take radon treatments?

The complex asks you to see its doctor or nurse before any treatment. Radon is usually not advised with cancer, heart failure or serious heart-rhythm problems, epilepsy, in pregnancy or while breastfeeding, with a fever or during a flare-up of an illness. If in doubt, ask your own doctor.

Is this Issyk-Ata, or Teploklyuchenka?

No. Issyk-Ata is a different hot-spring resort in another gorge, about 60 km away. Teploklyuchenka is a village by Lake Issyk-Kul. Teplye Klyuchi is in the Alamedin gorge, about 45 minutes’ drive from Bishkek.

Visiting Ala-Archa too?

The park is the next gorge: in through the checkpoint, bus No. 1 from Bishkek, a ticket at the gate. You can do both in a day.
